Singapore is a very clean, safe and orderly nation. Oh well I am not just kidding, the streets are really one of the cleanest in the world I've ever seen lol. Aside from that, Singapore is very compact and easy to get around. Unlike to other big cities, you'll be sitting forever in the cab or subway to reach your next destination, that would be really exhausting.

So Eliza and I have decided to pay a visit to Singapore! BUT.... There's always a price. As we all know, Singapore is much more expensive than the rest of Southeast Asia. Think you can't afford to travel? Yes you can, like I said : Travel smart. Here's my tips to help you to work out your travel budget for your trip in Singapore.

1. Get free accommodation if possible

Don't get me wrong. I am not asking you to stay over in stranger's house! A big NO. Unless if you are lucky to have some friends/relatives in Singapore, it's going to be cheaper staying with friends and family. Well uhm, my bffs Tom and Alvin offered me and Eliza a place to stay. We have known each other for the past 5 years, so what can possible go wrong?

We spent 2 nights in Serangoon (5 mins walk to MRT and Nex Mall) which is very convenient and another 2 nights in XXX ( you can easily spot the hawker foods around that area).

2. Take public transport

Transportation is one of the biggest expenses when planning a trip or vacation. Due to the fact, I suggest you to take the public transport such as buses and MRT. We bought a Ezlink card with 30 SGD credit inside. No matter by bus or train, the distance fare scheme means you pay for the distance you travel in a single journey. Also you can easily top up in any station.

Calculate your fare here: http://www.publictransport.sg/distancefare

What are the park opening times?

The standard opening hours for USS are as follows:

  • 10:00am-9:00pm (during peak seasons)

How do I get there?

Take the north east line or circle line to HarbourFront Station and take the Exit E to vivio city. Then proceed to level 3 to board the Sentosa Express. Lastly alight 1 stop later at Waterfront station. Wak straight till you see Chili's restaurant on your right.

She was leaving with the new boyfie without me.

4. Visit the most instagrammed FREE attractions

  • Garden by the Bay

I am a huge fan of flowers and garden, and garden by the bay is undeniably one of the best attraction so far. The Bay East outdoor garden is open 24 hours daily and also free admission. It is a must see on any visit to Singapore!

What's the best time to go?
Go in the morning when it's cooler to enjoy the view. But I cant believe Eliza and I went at 3pm, guess what! We were so sweaty and the weather was really so hot. -.-  so hottttttttt! I learnt a lesson and I urge you not to repeat it lol.

I am too hot to take any proper picture.

Look at these beautiful man-made "trees" between 25-50 meters tall

  • Merlion Park
Located at One Fullerton, Merlion Park has become one of the Singapore landmark and major tourist attraction. The best way to describe it is amazing. You can see the merlion with surroundings buildings and skyscrapers, also the river cruise ship near the pier. I managed to take a typical tourist shot photo in front of the "fish-lion" status. You've never been to Singapore if you never seen the Merlion.

The river cruise is open 9am to 11pm daily (last boat at 1030pm), regular departures at approximately 15 mins interval.

The world highest, largest rooftop pool

The view from Marina Bay Sands' world's highest 495-foot rooftop pool is truly magnificent.
